The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuahia South Local Government Area on Tuesday, May 13, warmly received the Chairman of Don Media Group and Abia State Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, as he formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
The consultation meeting, which took place at the APC Party Secretariat in Ubakala, brought together party executives, ward leaders, women groups, youths, and stakeholders from across Umuahia South LGA.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, while addressing party members, expressed deep appreciation to the Umuahia South APC leadership and ward executives for the warm reception and organization displayed throughout the meeting.
Speaking passionately, he stated that he strongly believes in equity, fairness, and political balance within the constituency, stressing that it is only right for Ohuhu in Umuahia North to continue the representation at this time.
He assured party faithfuls that as someone who believes in justice and fairness, he would ensure that after completing four years in office, the position would return to Umuahia South for continuation of the rotational understanding within the constituency.
According to him, “Four years is enough time to make meaningful impact if leadership is intentional, focused, and committed to the people.”
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe reminded party members that during his governorship aspiration under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umuahia South was the very first place he visited for consultations, a gesture he said reflected the love, respect, and importance he places on the people of the area.
He commended the unity and organizational structure of the APC in Umuahia South, describing the LGA as politically mature, coordinated, and progressive.
The media entrepreneur further assured party stakeholders that if given the APC ticket and eventually elected into the House of Representatives, he would not disappoint the people or remain passive in office waiting only for constituency allocations.
He stated that he would aggressively pursue federal government interventions and developmental opportunities for communities across the constituency, leveraging his relationship and proximity to the Presidency through his role as the City Boy Movement Director in Abia State.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe emphasized his long-standing passion for community and human development, noting that leadership must directly impact the lives of ordinary people.
According to him, his investments over the years have reflected his commitment to grassroots development and job creation. He highlighted the establishment of Don FM and Ikoro FM in his community, Umuawa Alaocha in Ohuhu, Abia State, stating that the media establishments have not only developed the community economically and socially but have also created employment opportunities for youths across Abia State.
He maintained that true leadership is about creating opportunities, empowering people, and opening doors for future generations.
Responding to his speech, the Umuahia South APC leadership led by Hon. Nnadozie Uruakpa appreciated Mayor Lucky Igbokwe for recognizing and respecting the party structure in the LGA through consultations and direct engagement with stakeholders.
Party members also commended him for bringing Don FM and Ikoro FM to Umuahia, describing the development as one of the major private sector contributions that has positively impacted the local economy and created opportunities for young people in the state.
Several stakeholders openly declared their support for Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, describing him as a grassroots politician who genuinely understands the needs of the people and speaks from the heart.
The party members assured him of their support and loyalty, while also charging him to remain committed to the people if elected. They stated clearly that leadership comes with accountability, adding that if he emerges as the federal representative and fails to perform creditably, they would not support him in future political ambitions or higher offices.
The highlight of the consultation was an emotional moment when women at the gathering surrounded Mayor Lucky Igbokwe in prayers for success at the APC primaries and in his political journey.
In a symbolic show of humility and respect, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe knelt down as the women prayed passionately for God’s guidance, victory, protection, and wisdom upon his aspiration. The atmosphere became deeply emotional as chants of support, prayers, and encouragement filled the party secretariat.
