April 30, 2026 News
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms, formally setting the stage for his re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

The forms were collected on his behalf on the first day of sales by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, James Abiodun Faleke, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja. Faleke said the purchase was backed by contributions from numerous supporters and groups across the country.

He expressed confidence in the President’s chances, citing his performance in office as a strong foundation for another term. Faleke noted that a large number of supporters, particularly from Lagos, contributed towards the procurement of the forms.

The nomination forms, which cost N100 million, were presented by the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Abubakar Dalori, and the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee.

Meanwhile, political activities intensified at the APC nomination centre as several governorship aspirants from Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Yobe and Bauchi states also obtained their forms.

Among them were Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) for Ogun State; former Inspector-General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, for Nasarawa; Senator Shehu Buba for Bauchi; and Kashim Musa Tumsah for Yobe State. Other aspirants also secured forms for various elective positions.

In Bauchi, Senator Buba expressed optimism about unseating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the APC stands a strong chance in the state. Similarly, Tumsah dismissed concerns about internal arrangements in Yobe, insisting that competence and track record should determine candidacy.

APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, said the ongoing sale of forms demonstrates the party’s readiness to conduct transparent and credible primaries. He assured aspirants of fairness and urged strict compliance with party guidelines.

According to the party’s timetable, the sale of forms will end on May 2, while submission closes on May 4. Screening is scheduled for May 6 to May 9, with results to be published on May 11. Appeals will follow on May 12 and 13.

Primary elections are set to begin on May 15 with the House of Representatives, followed by the Senate on May 18, State Houses of Assembly on May 20, governorship on May 21, and the presidential primary on May 23. Post-primary appeals will run between May 18 and May 25, depending on the category.
