CITYBOY MOVEMENT, ABIA STATE CHAPTER, WELCOMES FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU TO ABIA, HAILS ₦2 BILLION SUPPORT FOR AKWETE WEAVING HUB

The CityBoy Movement (CBM), Abia State Chapter, has warmly welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, to Abia State, describing her visit as another demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda's commitment to women empowerment, cultural preservation, and national development.
During her visit to the Akwete Weaving Cooperative Society in Akwete, Ukwa East Local Government Area, the First Lady announced a donation of ₦2 billion towards the development of the Akwete Production Hub, an intervention aimed at empowering women, promoting indigenous textile production, preserving the rich heritage of Akwete cloth, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.


The Movement commended the First Lady for her unwavering support for women and local industries, noting that the investment would strengthen entrepreneurship, create jobs, and preserve one of Nigeria's most treasured cultural traditions.


Speaking on behalf of the leadership and members of the Movement, the Director of the CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, H.E. Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, welcomed the First Lady to God's Own State.

He said:

Also speaking, the Woman Leader of the CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, Lady Joy Dimanochie, who led members of the Movement's women wing to the event, described the visit as historic for women in Abia.


She praised the First Lady's commitment to women empowerment through the Renewed Hope Initiative, stating that the ₦2 billion intervention would boost the Akwete weaving industry, expand economic opportunities for women, and preserve an important aspect of Nigeria's cultural heritage. She reaffirmed the commitment of the women of the CityBoy Movement to supporting initiatives that empower women and strengthen communities.

The CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, reaffirmed its support for initiatives that promote women empowerment, youth development, economic growth, cultural preservation, and national unity under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
